Obituary for Louise Markland Howell

Louise Markland  Howell
Helen Louise Howell, 82, of Johnson City, died Monday, March 23, 2015 in the Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, TN. Louise was a native of Washington County. She was a daughter of the late Fred and Minnie Getty Markland.

She was a member of Rich Acres Free Will Baptist Church and attended Ivey Heights Free Will Baptist Church. Louise worked in food service at ETSU. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed making meals for her family. Louise and her husband, Lawrence, sang in quartets and on the radio. She especially loved singing with her brother, John.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by: her husband, Lawrence A. Howell; daughter, Cathy Reynolds; sister, Marie Barnett; and two brothers, James and Bill Markland.

Survivors include: three sons, David Howell and his wife Judy, of Elizabethton, Joe Howell, of Johnson City, and Mark Howell and his wife Janice, of Johnson City; one daughter, Janice Perry and her husband Mitchual, of Johnson City; three brothers, Gene Markland and his wife Jackie, John Markland and his wife Jessee, and Robert Markland and his wife Susan, all of Johnson City; ten grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The family of Louise Howell will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Thursday, March 26, 2015 in the Morris-Baker Dogwood Chapel. The funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm Thursday in the chapel. Rev. Kenneth Grindstaff and Rev. Barry Shephard will officiate. The committal service is scheduled for 11:00 am Friday, March 27, 2015 in Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Minister, family, and friends are requested to meet at Morris-Baker by 10:30 am Friday to go in procession to the cemetery for those services.

A special thank you to all who visited Louise during her illness. She especially loved visits from her brothers, Gene, John, and Robert, and their wives.

A very special thank you to everyone at the Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol, for their loving care of Louise and her family.
