Obituary for Alfred Thomas Stango

Alfred Thomas Stango, age 89, of Johnson City, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Stango was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a son of the late Anthony Stango and Antonetta Patrizio Stango. He was a veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II. While in service, he received the Philippines Liberation Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal and the Air Medal. Mr. Stango was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Williamstown, New Jersey and a member of Knights of Columbus. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stango was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Ida Marie Justo Stango.
He is the devoted father of two daughters, Carol Lang and husband Dr. Forrest Lang, of Johnson City, TN and Janice Stango and husband Daniel Gonzales, of Los Angeles, CA; dear brother of, Dominic Stango and wife Rita, of Philadelphia, PA; loving grandfather of Dr. Nelle Nave and husband Chet, of Johnson City, TN, Mary Jacobs and husband James, of Johnson City, TN, James Lang, of Johnson City, TN, John Pierce, of Los Angeles, CA, and Rachel Bilson, of Los Angeles, CA; loving great grandfather of Benjamin Jacobs and Ethan Nave, both of Johnson City, TN; and the loving uncle to several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Saturday, March 5, 2011 from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm in the Morris-Baker Funeral Home. A eulogy will follow at 4:00 pm by Dr. Forrest Lang. Graveside services will be held in June at St. Mary’s Cemetery and Mausoleum, in Cape May, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be sent to the charity of choice.
