Obituary for Doris Ann Shew Gabbert

Doris Ann Shew  Gabbert
Mrs. Doris Ann Shew Gabbert, 80, of Johnson City, passed away Friday, March 27, 2015, in the Erwin Health Care Center.

Mrs. Gabbert was a native of Marion, VA. She was a daughter of the late Ernest and Kathleen Shew.

Mrs. Gabbert was a homemaker.

She attended East Unaka Avenue Baptist Church.

Mrs. Gabbert was a sweet Christian wife and loving mother to her son and step children.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by: her first husband, William D. “Bob” Carter; second husband, John M. Gabbert; three brothers, Jackson, David, and Donald Shew; and sister, Shirley Hunter.

She is survived by: one son, Steven D. Carter; four step children, Charles, Michael, Karen, and Barbara Gabbert; one sister, Peggy Keplinger; and three brothers, Bobby Shew, Lloyd Shew and his wife Patsy, and Richard Shew and his wife Nancy.

The graveside committal service for Mrs. Doris Ann Shew Gabbert will be conducted at 11 AM Tuesday, March 31, 2015, in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Roland Whittemore will officiate. Active pallbearers will be: Mickey Keplinger, Rocky Shew, Jeff Blackburn, Kenny Carter, J.W. Shew and Jeff Williams. Minister, family and friends are requested to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, 207 N. Boone St. #1500, Johnson City, TN 37604.
